Certificate of assessment—mediation
New accreditation standards released
The Australian mediator and dispute resolution accreditation standards (AMDRAS) have replaced the National mediator accreditation system. We (Dispute Resolution Branch) are an approved recognised training provider under AMDRAS and have revised our courses to reflect the new standards and requirements.
This is an interactive 3-day course that further develops your mediation skills and practice. It prepares you to take the Australian mediator and dispute resolution accreditation standards (AMDRAS) assessment on day 3.
You are suitable for the course if you have either:
- a certificate of training from us (the Dispute Resolution Branch)
- evidence that you have completed an equivalent course at another recognised training provider.
Course structure
- Day 1—activities, discussions, and short role plays on agenda setting, exploration, private sessions, option generation, negotiation, and agreement writing
- Day 2—coached role plays to experience and practice the entire mediation process
- Day 3—accreditation assessment
You can choose to attend all 3 days or any individual day. However, if you are preparing for AMDRAS accreditation, we recommend you attend all 3 days. This ensures you are confident in your skills and practice before attempting the assessment.
Accreditation assessment
During the assessment, you will:
- take part in role plays—both as a mediator and a party to a dispute
- complete a 1,200-word written assessment—which you will have 10 days to complete.
An assessor will evaluate your skill level against the AMDRAS.
Our assessors are nationally accredited and have at least 3 years of mediation experience.
